“He Was Untouchable” – Andy Murray Reveals Where Federer Outshined Nadal, Djokovic, and Himself

Andy Murray has revealed his very own “Big 4” ranking — but this time, it’s not about forehands, titles, or Grand Slam wins. It’s about… tears.
In a lighthearted chat with British GQ, the recently retired British star ranked Roger Federer as the most emotional among the legendary Big 4 when it comes to crying. Murray placed himself second, admitting that he hasn’t seen much emotion from the other two giants of the game — Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic.
“I think Federer is the best. Then it’s me,” Murray said. “It’s a pretty tough question because you don’t really see Rafa or Novak cry that much. I’d probably say Novak, then Rafa. I’ve probably seen Novak break down a bit more.”
Murray’s ranking might be unconventional, but it’s rooted in genuine moments. After all, Federer famously witnessed Murray in tears on more than one occasion — most memorably after the 2010 Australian Open final. It was there that Murray delivered his iconic line:
“I can cry like Roger; it’s a shame I can’t play like him.”
Now, with Federer, Nadal, and Murray all retired from professional tennis, Djokovic remains the last active member of the legendary quartet, with his eyes reportedly set on the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles.
Emotional rankings aside, the camaraderie and mutual respect among these tennis greats continue to shine — even when the tears start to fall.
