Royal Fans Applaud Matthew McConaughey for What He Did at Wimbledon — A Gesture Fit for a King

Matthew McConaughey has been praised for his ‘class’ gesture to Prince William and Kate Middleton at Wimbledon.

The royals watched as Jannik Sinner became the first Italian man to win a Wimbledon singles title, coming back to beat Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz.

William and Kate were among the countless A-list spectators from Nicole Kidman to Paul Mescal, and of course McConaughey.

The Oscar winner was sitting behind the royal couple who attended the match with Prince George and Princess Charlotte.

After the game finished, Sinner described meeting the royals as ‘amazing’, and in return, signed tennis balls for the children.

“I’ve been lucky to meet her (Kate) and the whole family, and it was a very nice moment,” he said.

Over on X, however, eagle-eyed fans have been looking at how McConaughey reacted to William and Kate arriving at their seats.

The American actor was lauded as a ‘lovely southern gentlemen’ as a video shared by Wimbledon shows him standing up when the royals arrived into their box.
