Nelly Korda Forced to Withdraw After Dog Bite — Here’s How Serious It Was

Women’s World No. 1, Nelly Korda, has opened up about the dog bite injury that forced her abrupt withdrawal from the Ladies European Tour’s Aramco Team Series event in London back in June 2024.

Korda was scheduled to compete at the Centurion Club, where fans were eagerly anticipating her appearance. But just days before the tournament was set to begin, she unexpectedly pulled out — later revealing that she had been attacked by a dog outside a Seattle coffee shop.

In a brief social media update at the time, the Florida native stated she needed “time to receive treatment and recover fully,” though she withheld further details, only noting that the bite was located on her thigh.

A Scary and Unexpected Incident

Fellow golfer Alison Lee later shed more light on the incident, revealing that the attack happened at a random location and that Korda had no prior connection to the dog.

“She got bitten by a dog she didn’t know — it was just at a coffee shop,” Lee shared. “I’m hoping for a speedy recovery for her.”

Lee also empathized from personal experience, having been bitten by her boyfriend’s rescue dog earlier in 2024 — an incident that resulted in a serious infection and a three-day hospital stay.

A Tough Week for Korda

The dog bite was the latest in a string of unfortunate events for Korda. Just a day earlier, she was visibly emotional after shooting an 81 in the second round of the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship, resulting in a missed cut. The emotional toll of that performance, followed by a painful injury, marked a difficult stretch in what had otherwise been a dominant season for the World No. 1.

Despite the setback, fans and fellow players have continued to express support for Korda, hoping to see her back to full health and form soon.
