Shock Defeat! Andy Murray Enrolls in Lessons After Losing to His 5-Year-Old Son

Andy Murray has taken up chess lessons in a bid to outsmart his five-year-old son, Teddy. The tennis legend was left astounded when the youngster bested him at the game just two months after starting to play.
In response, he’s turned to an online chess training platform to hone his skills, where he can challenge board bots to enhance his gameplay. Judy Murray, Andy’s mother and former coach, revealed on the How To Be 60 podcast: “Teddy started playing chess a couple of months ago and he can already beat his dad and his grandpa and his uncle.”
She added that her son, known for his competitive spirit, couldn’t let such a defeat go unanswered. “He’s now signed on this thing, I think it’s called Chess.com, and he is practising like crazy,” she said. “He’s got to up his game.”
The 38-year-old former tennis star, who has previously shared how Teddy had become ‘massively into chess’, admitted he was ‘really enjoying playing with him’. Despite confessing he was ‘not a particularly good chess player’, Andy believes he has ‘quite an analytical mind’.
He said: “I enjoy the game and watching him learn and playing with him. It’s difficult losing to a five-year-old when in the middle of the game he’s asking you to come and wipe his bum, essentially.
