One Month After Parting Ways with Djokovic, Andy Murray Lands an Unexpected Gig

Andy Murray may have stepped away from competitive tennis, but he’s not slowing down. Just a month after wrapping up his five-month coaching stint with Novak Djokovic, the three-time Grand Slam champion has landed a new role — and this time, it’s a little more shortbread than sweatbands.

Murray has been unveiled as the first-ever brand ambassador for Walker’s Shortbread, the beloved Scottish biscuit brand with a global reach in over 100 markets. It’s a nostalgic, homegrown pairing that feels more like a match made in Highlands heaven than a typical celebrity endorsement.

Though Murray recently admitted he wasn’t in a rush to jump back into coaching or high-profile gigs, this opportunity struck the perfect chord. In a statement, he shared:

“I am proudly Scottish, and partnering with Walker’s, a brand that has been representing Scotland around the world for well over a century, felt like a great fit for me. I come from a small tight-knit community and when I look back at where I have come from, I am proud of what I’ve achieved — which is something I share with Walker’s. It’s a real honour to be part of this next chapter for such a well-loved Scottish brand.”

And yes — it’s personal. Murray revealed that shortbread has long been one of his “simple pleasures” in life:

“I’ve been eating shortbread since I was a kid – my gran would make it all the time for us. We even celebrated my Wimbledon win with shortbread. No matter where I am in the world, a piece of Walker’s Shortbread always transports me back home.”

As part of the campaign, Murray will front the brand’s new advertising rollout, with his image set to appear in major train stations across the UK — a fittingly British launch pad for a campaign that blends national pride, family values, and buttery nostalgia.

Walker’s managing director, Nicky Walker, expressed excitement over the partnership:

“We are incredibly excited to welcome Andy Murray as our very first brand ambassador. We’ve always admired Andy’s achievements, his dedication, and his cautious charisma — as well as his strong family ties. These are qualities that deeply reflect our values at Walker’s. We are genuinely honoured to have Andy and his team join us, and we’re looking forward to what this new chapter brings as we continue to promote ‘Scotland at its Finest’.”

Whether he’s holding a racket or a biscuit, Murray continues to champion Scotland in his own quietly powerful way — this time, one crumb at a time.
