Shocking New Details in Diogo Jota’s Fatal Crash: Who Was Behind the Wheel?

Diogo Jota and his brother André Silva died in a tragic car accident. New details about the incident are emerging
Diogo Jota and his brother André Silva perished in a car accident on the night of July 2-3 in the Spanish province of Zamora (they were traveling to Santander, from where the 28-year-old was to take a ferry to Portsmouth). New facts about this tragedy are coming to light.
New details in the case of Diogo Jota and André Silva’s accident
A video from the accident scene surfaced online earlier. The cause was reportedly a tire blowout during an overtaking maneuver, causing the vehicle to veer off the road and catch fire. According to the Polish Press Agency, the car was most likely driven by André Silva.
The police determined that the 25-year-old, driving a rented Lamborghini Huracán, likely exceeded the speed limit. On that section of the A52 route, the speed limit is 120 km/h. A resident of the town of Cernadilla reported hearing two explosions—investigators believe the first was the sound of the tire bursting, followed by the explosion of fuel in the car.
Identification of the victims
It is also known how the victims’ identities were established. The license plate and documents, which were not destroyed by the fire, aided in the identification. The bodies of both men were charred, and their identities were confirmed through genetic testing (although Jota was identified even before the tests).
Diogo Jota and André Silva to be buried with honors
On the night of Thursday to Friday, the remains of both men were transported from Zamora to the Chapel of the Resurrection in Gondomar. The coffins with their bodies will remain there until the funeral on Saturday. The vigil will begin on Friday afternoon, with the ceremony scheduled for 10:00 AM. The President of Portugal, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, will attend.
